Few places capture the drama of Skye quite like Elgol. Sitting on the shores of Loch Scavaig with uninterrupted views of the Black Cuillin, it's one of the island's most spectacular villages. The drive here is an attraction in itself, before opening out onto one of Scotland's finest mountain panoramas.

Loch Coruisk

Hidden deep within the Cuillin mountains, Loch Coruisk is one of Scotland's most remarkable freshwater lochs. While it can be reached on foot, most visitors choose to arrive by boat from Elgol.

Boat Trips from Elgol

Several local operators run daily trips to Loch Coruisk and Canna. Along the way you may spot seals, seabirds and, if you're lucky, dolphins or porpoises.

Camasunary Bay

One of our favourite walks on Skye. This beautiful beach sits beneath the Cuillin and can be reached from either Elgol or Glen Sligachan. The bothy here is a popular overnight stop for walkers completing the Skye Trail.

Sgùrr na Strì

Often described as one of Britain's finest viewpoints, Sgùrr na Strì offers unforgettable views across Loch Coruisk and the Cuillin Ridge. Strong walkers can reach it from Glen Sligachan or combine the route with a boat trip from Elgol.

Bla Bheinn

Standing proudly apart from the main Cuillin ridge, Bla Bheinn is one of Skye's most accessible Munros. Still a challenging mountain day, it's an excellent introduction to Skye's rugged landscape.
